About Me
Briony Osborne
Clinical Psychologist Registrar
I am an AHPRA endorsed clinical psychologist registrar who is committed to providing a comfortable, non-judgemental and safe space for all clients. After graduating with Honours from my Bachelor’s degree in psychology, I went on to complete postgraduate study. I am in the final year of a combined PhD/Masters of Psychology program at the University of Wollongong. The PhD allows me to engage in both clinical and research work which I really enjoy.

My clinical experience extends across inpatient and outpatient settings as well as several therapeutic modalities. My Masters clinical training focused on cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT) and since this time I have also trained in dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT) and parent-child interaction therapy (PCIT). I have extensive clinical training in the treatment of conditions including anxiety disorders, mood disorders, substance use disorders, emotional dysregulation and self-harm, personality disorders, eating disorders and trauma related disorders.

My research interests include substance use disorders, complex trauma and the integration of physical and mental health care. My research has been published in several academic, peer-reviewed journals. I have been a member of the teaching staff in the School of Psychology at the University of Wollongong, lecturing and tutoring on subjects such as abnormal psychology and eating disorders. As part of my research, I co-developed a parenting program for families affected by trauma, recently rolled out in a state-wide trial in partnership with the NSW government. I am also part of a research team developing and delivering continuing care interventions for people attending residential treatment for substance use disorders. My passion for research means that I adopt an empirical approach when working with my clients, delivering evidence-based interventions with genuine care and humility.
